Sulis
Sulis is Goddess of Wisdom, and she will guide her followers who seek her when needing to make decisions, bringing light and inspiration.
Sulis is Goddess of Fire and of Water and thus she brings deep connection between the light of this world and the dark of the Underworld. In this respect she is a Goddess of balance, of relationship, of unity and unification. From the Underworld Sulis will bring knowledge of the mysteries to her followers. Sulis will reveal ones dark side, shining her light that reveals ones shadow side. She brings the dark into balance with the light, as both are needed to be whole and to truly know ones true Self.
As Goddess of Water Sulis brings depth of emotion and deepens ones intuition. She brings calm into situations, yet she has incredible strength and power and can thus wash away resistance and pretence. She cleanses and renews.
As Goddess of Fire she brings pure spiritual power. She burns away old ties and restrictions and those things that no longer serve. She is pure vibrant energy and she imparts this to those who follow her.
Sulis has revealed herself to me as a Mother Goddess. She is Restorer, Bringer of Renewal, she Rejuvenates and Energises. She is Goddess of Healing, of Blessing, but she is also Goddess of Curse. She guards and protects her Children and will right the wrongs committed against those who follow her and in this respect can be Goddess of War.
Sulis is the Goddess of the hot, healing Springs of Bath, a city about 40 miles from my home. I believe her waters flow into the surrounding areas.
Sulis is the Goddess of the Roman Baths in Bath, Avon. Thirteen inscriptions on stone are dedicated to Sulis herself with three dedicated to Sulis Minerva. Her importance as a deity is also attested by the sheer numbers of defixiones (curse tablets) found at the baths (at least 130) all dedicated to the Goddess.
